Houston Transportation

Thanks to the modern Houston transportation network, getting around this city is a breeze, and no matter what you are planning to see and do during your stay, you should find it simple to get around.

Probably the best way of exploring Houston is by hiring a car. This will give you the freedom to go wherever you want at a time that suits you, and will mean that you are not restricted to visiting places that are on a bus route, or always having to look out for a cab when you want to move on.

Car hire is actually one of the cheapest options available when it comes to Houston transportation, and as long as you get plenty of use out of your vehicle, will actually save you money on cab fares and public transport.

One of the main reasons why Houston transportation is so good is its road system. Logical street plans and good freeway access around the city mean that getting from A to B is simple, especially if you are driving outside the peak hours of the commute. Generally, parking is excellent throughout the city, although it can be tricky to find a decent parking lot in the shopping areas unless you are prepared to walk a little. For access to the strip malls on the outskirts of the city, a car is essential.

If you take advantage of Houston’s nightlife, then it is a good idea to arrange for a cab to pick you up at a specific time and place rather than leave it to chance. Drink driving is illegal, so make sure you don’t do it. The prices of taxis are generally fairly reasonable on most short journeys, and there are plenty around when you most need them.

If you absolutely must use the buses through Houston you will find that they are frequent, clean, and excellent value. Although they have a fairly comprehensive network of routes within the city itself, for trips further afield you will probably require another from of Houston transportation to get around.
